Our Art curriculum ensures that our children have a high-quality artistic education that engages, inspires and challenges pupils.
We have designed our Art curriculum to equip pupils with the declarative and procedural knowledge needed to experiment, create and analyse their own works of art. Over time, children develop the skills needed to be creative, and to experiment with different media. They are taught to develop a greater understanding of art and design, how it shaped our history, and how it contributes to the culture, creativity and wealth of our nation.
We ensure that children can access the learning where they have strength, even if there is an additional need. For pupils with fine motor difficulties, we provide them with a range of tools and resources to support them to access the subject, for example, a range of pencil widths and grips.
Our DT curriculum gives pupils the opportunity to use their creativity and imagination to make products and solve relevant problems in context. We want our children to be risk takers; innovative and resourceful.
Throughout the school, pupils engage in a range of design projects, including food technology, electrical systems, structures, mechanisms and textiles. Throughout each unit, they develop the technical and practical skills needed to design and make high quality products.
We ensure that children can access the learning where they have strength, even if there is an additional need. For pupils with physical development challenges, we have a range of resources available, for example, a selection of needle sizes for our work on textiles.
