Thrive

We are a Thrive setting. This means that we equip our staff in understanding, identifying and tackling the root causes of behaviour, and raise awareness of the importance of supporting children and young people with their emotions. Thrive helps to build knowledge of social and emotional development to improve understanding of mental health and wellbeing, and is based on the latest evidence around neuroscience and attachment theory. We use this programme across the school to refine our PSHE offer, as well as through 1:1 Interventions. We also have staff trained in Emotional Regulation strategies, Bereavement, Drawing and Talking, and are part of the Merton Mental Health Schools Cluster.

Right's Respecting Schools

We are proud to have been awarded the Rights Respecting Schools Silver Award. This means that the children and adults in our school are familiar with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. They have talked about different rights as part of their Class Charter, in various lessons and in assemblies.  We use this shared understanding about the rights of a child to ensure that all children feel valued as individuals. The children’s social and emotional wellbeing is a priority.  We celebrate diversity and the different languages and cultures in our school. Being a Rights Respecting School supports our PUPAC values and our commitment to being an anti-racist establishment.

RACE Charter Mark

The C in PUPAC stands for our Commitment to being an anti-racist organisation. We work in conjunction with other schools across the trust to ensure that we promote Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity. This has included reviewing our curriculum, scrutinising policies and procedures in place, and is shown in our personal development offer. We are proud to have been awarded the RACE Charter Mark Silver Accreditation for our work so far.

Attendance

We believe that every child has the right to an excellent educational offer, and to achieve well. We work relentlessly to support families where are barriers to this, including with attendance. In 2023, this resulted in us being presented with an FFT attendance award!
